This week I’m in Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia visiting Grow Appalachia partners that my foundation supports. It’s cool to meet the gardeners, learn about the area and try some of their harvest (blackberry cobbler!). It’s nice to be able to swoop in and offer (un)helpful solutions, think big picture and allow people to dream when you’re a funder. You get to ask foundational questions and you get to shape the next steps. Oh, and you get to play with baby goats. I’m really looking forward to the next phase of Grow Appalachia - now with livestock!
